Resolving a tanker collision in a Russian port

Dumler and Partners successfully represented a German tanker owner and the Norwegian Hull Club in a dispute out of the tanker’s collision with the Russian oil company’s terminal. The dispute included the Russian party’s claim for compensation of actual damage caused to the port’s infrastructure, and millions in claims due to port terminal downtime.
We managed to reduce the port’s claim by more than 60 percent and also get the vessel released to keep it from idling at the Russian port. We then drafted a settlement agreement and structured how the parties would perform it. This included compliance issues in arrangements to supply and deliver equipment to Russia.
